5-Minute RWA Training Ground

Two things are hidden on purpose: which instrument you are trading, and the second half of its price history. Both would let hindsight do the thinking instead of your rules. Build your strategy on the visible slice, then watch how it behaves on the part you never saw — a risk-free way to catch overfitting before real money is involved.

Disclaimer: Trading financial instruments involves risk. Simulated and historical results do not guarantee future performance, and this page is for education only — not financial advice.

Basic parameters

Slice length (days)?

To keep results accurate, confirm the basic parameters below before building rules — changing them resets the whole workspace.

Describe your strategy, we turn it into rules

Plain-language descriptions translate directly into reproducible, executable trading strategies.

Each conversion deducts 3 credits.

How to write it

Required — without these it can't be converted

  • Entry (required) — when to buy. e.g. EMA20 crosses above EMA50
  • Exit (required) — when to sell everything. e.g. falls below MA50

Optional — add if your idea has them

  • Add — when to add to the position. e.g. buy half again after a 5% gain
  • Reduce — when to take some off. e.g. sell half at +10%
  • Stop-out — when to cut the loss. e.g. exit everything at a 3% loss

You can use code names (MA, RSI) or plain words (moving average, Bollinger). Market, symbol, interval, position size, costs and leverage are chosen on the panel above — no need to write them.

Or start from a proven shape

Each template is a complete plan — capital, position sizing and rules (entry + exit) all filled in. The symbol is picked at random for you, so a template never tells you what you are trading.

Nothing is locked: every number stays editable. Each card also tells you where the idea breaks down — which matters more than how it looks on history.

Overfit Trap (Cautionary)

Random symbol$100,000$100,000 per tradeyour tier

A carefully stacked 3-condition entry that looks brilliant on history. Import it, then take it to the Training Ground and watch it fall apart.

Where it breaks: Out-of-sample data. Every extra condition was tuned to one specific stretch of the past — that is overfitting, and the blind test is designed to expose it.

3 entry · 1 exitHigh risk

Opening Range Breakout

Random symbol$100,000$100,000 per tradeyour tier

Waits for price to push above the recent high, then rides the session's first real move.

Change any value, then load the template into the editor below.

Where it breaks: Choppy, range-bound sessions. Almost every breakout fades straight back, and at intraday frequency the round-trip costs turn a small loss into a steady bleed.

1 entry · 2 exitMedium risk

Intraday Mean Reversion

Random symbol$100,000$100,000 per tradeyour tier

Buys short-term exhaustion — oversold on a fast RSI — and exits as soon as price normalizes.

Change any value, then load the template into the editor below.

Where it breaks: Trending sessions. Oversold keeps getting more oversold, and mean-reversion takes its worst losses on exactly the days that look most obvious.

1 entry · 2 exitMedium risk

Intraday Momentum

Random symbol$100,000$100,000 per tradeyour tier

A fast/slow average cross compressed onto intraday bars — follows the direction of the last few minutes, flat the moment it turns.

Change any value, then load the template into the editor below.

Where it breaks: Flat, low-volume stretches. The averages cross back and forth with no follow-through, and every whipsaw pays a full round trip in fees.

How it works

From learning to validated strategy in minutes

01

Pick a market, set the basics

Choose the symbol you want to study, your starting capital, and how much to risk on each trade. Fees and slippage are real numbers — what you see is what the market would have charged.

02

Write your entry and exit rules

Two sentences are enough to start: when to get in, and when to get out. Stack conditions like building blocks — no code, and every rule reads back to you in plain language.

03

Replay it and read the result

Run the plan over real price history and see what actually happened — the equity curve, the drawdown, and every entry and exit marked on the chart. Judge it by the numbers, not by how convincing the idea sounds.

Learn

Learn

The tokenized-stock training ground applies the train-then-validate idea to a market with very little history to spare. Build a strategy on one slice of continuous minute data, then check whether it holds up on minutes you have not seen — a direct test of whether a rule generalises in a market this young.

Concepts

Key concepts

Randomized window

Each run uses a different slice of the available minutes, so you cannot memorise one episode.

Blind validation

The out-of-sample minutes stay hidden until you commit to the strategy.

Worked example

A walkthrough from idea to result

  1. 1

    Build on the first slice

You design a rule on the in-sample minutes — for example a breakout with a fixed stop.

  2. 2

    Lock the strategy

The out-of-sample slice stays hidden until you commit, which prevents you from tuning to data you have not earned the right to see.

  3. 3

    Reveal and compare

The rule runs on the unseen minutes and the two results sit side by side.

  4. 4

    Read the gap honestly

With a short history, a favourable slice is easy to find by luck. The gap between the two windows is what tells you whether the rule is doing anything real.

How to use

How it works

1

Pick a market

Choose the stock, ETF or crypto pair you want to study.

2

Build the rules

Combine entry, exit and position rules as visual blocks — no code required.

3

Run the test

The engine replays the rules bar by bar over real price history.

4

Read the result

Review the return, drawdown and equity curve, plus a plain-language assessment of strengths and weaknesses.

Reading results

How to read the results

In-sample vs out-of-sample

The gap between the two is a simple overfitting signal.

Trade count

Short windows produce few trades, and a handful of trades is not enough evidence to judge a rule.

Common mistakes

Mistakes traders make

✗ Tuning the rule to the specific slice you were shown

✓Random windows exist so you cannot memorise one episode. Iterating until that slice passes defeats the exercise.

✗ Trusting a pass from a single short window

✓One window is one exam. In a market with only weeks of data, several different slices are needed before an idea deserves any confidence.

✗ Assuming a good practice run means a good live strategy

✓Validation checks one idea on one kind of data. Live trading adds liquidity, execution and regime changes that the simulation excludes.

When to use

When this tool fits — and when it does not

Use it when

  • ✓To pressure-test whether a rule generalises or merely fitted one short slice.
  • ✓When learning how little a few weeks of data can actually prove.
  • ✓When comparing rule variations before risking capital.

Skip it when

  • ✗Revealing the blind window before locking the strategy.
  • ✗Running windows until one happens to pass.
  • ✗Treating the training ground as a substitute for live risk controls.
Pro tips

Practical tips that actually help

Keep the rules simple

Fewer parameters mean fewer ways to fit a short window by accident.

Count the trades

A pass built on four trades is noise. Look at how much evidence the result actually rests on.

Run several windows before concluding

Surviving different random slices is far more convincing than acing one favourable draw.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why random data instead of a fixed period?▾

Random windows stop you tuning to one specific episode in the homework before the exam.

Does a good practice run mean a good live strategy?▾

No. It means the idea survived one validation pass. Costs, liquidity and regime change are not modelled here.

How is this different from the stock training ground?▾

The structure is identical; the data is not. Tokenized stocks trade continuously and the available history is measured in weeks, so the validation pass is usually harsher.

What should I do if my strategy fails out-of-sample?▾

Treat it as information rather than failure. Ask whether the rules were too specific to the first slice, simplify, and run again — catching that early is the entire point of the exercise.

Can I reuse a strategy that passes validation in live trading?▾

Passing validation is one evidence point, not permission to go live. Live markets add execution costs, liquidity limits and regime shifts that no simulation captures.
